There are infinite possibilities for creative writings inspired by this book. Here are some to get your own creative juices flowing. Pick one of these or think of your own.
|
POETRY |
To Someone Poem - one character speaks his/her mind to another (the "you" of the poem, or "y'all"). Perhaps Huck has something to say to his dead father, or Jim wants to say something to Huck that he's never said before. Can be in dialect but doesn't have to be.
Tribute Poem - a poem in praise of someone, something, perhaps a place. May be a true heart-warming poem, or perhaps sarcastic ("yeah, and thanks a HEAP!").
|
PROSE |
Letters / Diary - pick a character or two and let us hear their thoughts.
Revise a Scene - change what happens. Render the scene in a Twainesque way. Maybe you'd like to re-do the ending?
Spin a Yarn - Have Grandpa Huck tell a story to his grandkids about "the good ole days!"
|
DRAMA |
Scene - render a scene from the novel as a play or make up a scene with characters from the novel (either during the events of the novel or maybe years later).
