A class for students who have completed Chinese 3 Honors with a grade average better than a B+. Class is taught mostly in Chinese and concentrates on both the Chinese language and its culture. Students are required to use only Chinese in class and to write their research project papers in characters. Materials include history, geography, philosophy, religions, common sayings, festivals, customs, family systems, inventions, major dialects, the written language of China, etc. Completion of the course will enable the students to acquire a comprehensive understanding about China and possess an intermediate level of proficiency.
