Textbook: First Year Latin, Jenney, Scudder and Baade, Allyn & Bacon, New Jersey and California, 1979; Supplementary Workbook.

Covers lessons 1-32 and 8 review lessons in the course of the year.

A comprehensive study of forms, syntax, vocabulary; reading exercises, of a difficulty commensurate with the level, which deal with Roman life and culture.

Forms: nouns, adjectives, pronouns--all declensions; verbs--all tenses active and passive of the indicative, present imperative.

Syntax: function of all cases for nouns and pronouns; agreement of adjectives; major uses of indicative and imperative.

Vocabulary: about 800 words, but by extension in the various forms of nouns, pronouns, adjectives and verbs, the number is multiplied many times over.

Emphasis is on forms, syntax, vocabulary and idioms essential for the understanding of ideas expressed in the Latin.
