Belt Filter Press

For best results, sludge entering the digester should contain little water.

The belt filter press squeezes excess water out of the sludge before it is passed to the digester.

x

The sludge emerges from the belt filter press in a gelatinous form and contains no free water. On rainy days, when the sludge in the drying bed cannot dry properly, this device is also used to press out excess water before the sludge is sent to the landfill.
