Chlorine Contact Tank

Water from the filters or reuse tank enters the chlorine contact tank here. The purpose of the chlorine contact tank is to detain the water at the plant in order for it to be in contact with the chlorine added in the settling tank (clarifiers).

In order to be sure the added chlorine is killing the bacteria, the water is detained in the plant for at least 30 minutes before dechlorination. To ensure a sufficient detention time, the water flows through this zigzagging maze of the chlorine contact tank.
