Because You Can
When I am retired,
I shall wear tattered long pants,
collared aloha shirts with a pen in my breast pocket,
glasses with large lens, and hearing-aids.
I shall eat organic food from NutriSystem.
I shall take long walks in the morning,
blast the stereo to annoy the neighbors,
and yell, "What did you say?!" when talking to people.
In the evenings, I shall watch Korean soap operas.
I shall go to sleep at eight and wake up at seven.
I shall live alone in Manoa so I can look out the window
and laugh as I see the people outside run for cover when it pours.
And when I come across a studious, young lad,
I shall say, "Have fun; slack off a little
because when you're old like me,
you can!"
