Flash!
The child curls up under his covers,
cowering as the swift, bright light
rips through the sky,
and the roar of one thousand lions
rattles his window.
He screams, "Mommy!"
but no one hears him,
for they are all sound asleep.
He can only lie there trembling,
feeling the wrath of the storm.
