Just as I reached the apex
of the dirt red Cathedral Rock
in scorching hot Sedona, Arizona,
my feet began to tremble
and my heart raced.
Suddenly I pivoted backwards,
to the welcoming arms
and glowing face
of my father,
who assured
everything was going to be all right.
Out of the corner of my eye,
in the stunning rock,
multiple slightly dark engravings
grabbed my attention.
Two names,
separated with a heart,
a sign of heart-warming love,
were left as a signature there in the rock,
across a plummeting drop.
This one glimpse of splendor
of stunning engravings
eased me.
Chilly winds engulfed me,
but rather than being frightened,my smile emerged
as I took in the peaceful, lovely scenery.
An unexpected urge,
to lightly float away,
over and through Cathedral Rock, inundated me as I sat there.
