DeterminationA baby pulling itself up
then trying to take a step,
falling, yet getting herself up again,
over and over until at last,
he's up and takes a step
into Mommy's open arms.
His mother laughs and smiles, clapping.
The little baby boy grins,
his little six tooth grin as she claps,
proud of himself.
The roots growing through the concrete road,
first digging itself under the asphalt,
then with all its might,
forcing itself through a small crack in the black gravel road.
A single black ant,
trying to drag a bread crumb back to the anthill.
Though the crumb is bigger than he,
he pulls it an inch,
stops for a moment,
then picks it back up, and drags it another inch,
until he's dragged it all the way.
Determination, until the end.
