The Stunt

Sweat dripped down my back, as I anxiously awaited "flying"

for the first time.

My legs still felt heavy,

throbbing from being over in the blazing sun,

but I was more than prepared to go.

I looked up at the illuminated blue sky, now no sun in sight.

The voice behind me yelled, "ready!"

I carefully placed my hands on my bases' sweaty shoulders.

I stood on my toes in the damp grass, ready to jump.

I took a deep breath and prepared for my flight.

"Five," yelled the voice assertively.

Pumped with adrenaline, I jumped into my bases' hands tucking my feet under me.

They drove their hands and arms toward the sky,

and I stood up, high above the ground.

I kept my balance, raising my arms in the shape of the V.

A light breeze blew as I stood looking towards the sky with a smile on my face.

The trees and clouds seem to move in slow motion;

I felt weightless, like I could actually fly.
