The I-Building wraps around a grassy quadrangle and extends toward the chapel. Inside are classrooms for Upper School subjects as well as laboratories for science and computer studies. In 1993 the Diamond Head wing was dedicated to longtime friend and benefactor Malcolm MacNaughton, who was chairman of Iolani's Board of Governors from 1970-1991. The offices of the Headmaster, Assistant Headmaster, Dean of Students, Registrar and Upper School Counselors are located on the first floor. Special concerts and other student events are held in the courtyard opposite the MacNaughton Wing.
