The first formal training in computer programming is introduced in grade nine where students are required to take a nine-week computer course. Students use IBM PCs in this course. They are introduced to the Internet and spreadsheets, as well as more advanced techniques in word processing. They are required to complete a paper in English or History using the word processor.

Computer Science courses are offered beginning in grade ten. Three one-semester courses are offered. Included in these three are two one-semester Advanced Placement (AP) Computer Science courses: AP Computer A and AP Computer AB. All courses are currently in Pascal. Students may elect to take one or both of these AP courses. Students in these courses produce source code and executables for both the Intel and Macintosh platforms. Borland Turbo Pascal 7.0 as well as Symantic Think Pascal are used. The lab consists of twelve Mac Centris 040 machines and twelve IBM 486DX50s. C++ will be introduced one year prior to the AP test switch over from Pascal (Spring 1998).
