The Iolani School Performing Arts Department offers a balanced program in the areas of Band, Orchestra, Stage Band, Chorus, Dance, Music Theory, Theatre. Some courses may be repeated for credit. The department presents performances to the school and community groups. Ensembles travel extensively to the mainland and to foreign countries.
The Iolani Arts Academy program offers after-school classes in dance and theatre, and private lessons in voice, piano, wind, percussion and string instruments.
Piano students are encouraged to join a performing arts group. While learning to perform with a group, they may have opportunities to further their piano skills by playing accompaniment parts in band and orchestra ensembles. Students may also audition to participate in one of the three stage bands and for the Iolani Orchestra Concerto concert.
