G1: write the rule. Do not just write "G" or "Glossary of usage" in your corrections. Find the appropriate section in the alphabetized list below, read it, write the rule (or a short version of the rule), and correct the error.
quotation, quote: not literary terms. Used only by editors, teachers and students in the context of editing. In its place, use words like speech, lines, and discussion (of). The following sentence gives the impression that Macbeth is quoting someone:
WRONG: In his quotation about time, Macbeth expresses despair.
BETTER: In his meditation about time, Macbeth expresses despair.
Compounding the error, people sometimes use the verb quote as a noun.
