Georgia Heard

"I view my work in schools as twofold: to help both teachers and children to find the poetry inside them and to guide teachers to teach the tools that will make a difference in children's writing.  The rest is magic!"

Georgia Heard is a well-known writer and internationally respected education consultant who has spent seven years working and teaching in classrooms throughout the United States.  In addition to her classroom experience, she has worked with the Teachers College Writing Project in New York City.  Ms. Heard completed her graduate work at Columbia University, where she was honored by the Academy of American Poets

For the Good of the Earth and Sun (now in its fourth printing), based on Ms. Heard's work in the classrooms of New York City public schools, is considered an essential resource for teachers desiring to bring poetry into their classrooms.  Georgia Heard is the author of Creatures of Earth, Sea, and Sky and is currently awaiting publication of two more books, Down by the Creek and A Gift from the Heart: An Anthology of Children's Poetry.
