A Girl's Life

Dear Diary,

It is hard to watch my brothers head to the monastery today--as it is every day. Here I am, stuck at home to help with all the housework and to look after my little sister. Everyone says that girls don't need to go to school, but I cannot figure out why it should be that way. Are we not all man in some way? Are not all birds on the sky equal? Are not all fish in the water free? Why should man, the master of the race be condemned to this…this mutiny between man and lady? My little sister Elizabeth is free, now, in the eyes of man to be what she is. Not like me, a slave bound by the chains of ladyship, never to be free. Ha, and the bible says all people are free. If all men are free, what are we? Dogs? No, it shalt not be this way. God created man and lady as his children. Sooner or later, men shall realize that though we may look weak, our spirit is as strong as theirs . Yet I still ponder about something. In the fields, men and women work it. But though the women work the land as hard as men do, the men take all the credit. Dear God, how much longer must we suffer under the hands of men!

My slave master mother is calling me now. I might as well do as she bids. Good bye life. No longer will I bother the world of those hideous beasts called men.
