King Arthur, the Best King of England

King Arthur was the best King of England,

King Arthur was both true and brave.

He pulled the sword from the anvil,

And as king, had his country to save!

Though many tried to do this,

They couldn't pull the sword from the stone.

And when Arthur performed the miracle,

his true identity was shown!

People did not believe him,

Because this did not seem right.

Arthur could not be

A king, nevertheless a knight.

But Arthur was a great king,

King Arthur was both fair and true.

He ruled his land very wisely,

And was just to his people, too.

Then one day someone came riding by,

It was a wounded knight on his horse.

When Arthur asked what happened,

The knight said, "The Sable Knight, of course."

"Whoever strikes this Shield does so at his Peril."

As Arthur struck it, out came a knight.

Said the knight, "Surrender now,

Or prepare to fight."

Arthur lost badly to the Sable Knight,

and Merlin took him to a hermit.

When Arthur was healed, he said aloud,

"Till I defeat the knight, I will never quit!"

Soon later, Arthur was told of Excalibur,

Which was a beautiful sword in the lake.

King Arthur was able to achieve this,

And defeating the knight was a piece of cake.

King Arthur established the Round Table,

And married the great Lady Guinevere.

The seats of the Round Table were almost filled,

Which meant the peak of his reign was almost near.

King Arthur was the best King of England,

King Arthur was both fair and true.

He ruled his land very wisely,

And was just to his people, too.
