My First Night as a Page

Tonight is my first night as a page. I have never been away from my family before. I pray that I might do well with my new duties. Oh, to become a knight? I do miss my parents and siblings very much. I had much fun at home playing with my siblings and helping around the house. I really liked going to town with my father to get supplies and food. There was so much going on in town. Shows, food stands, merchant's booths, and all the little children and animals running around. Just the smell was horrible.

With my mother, I would go to the castle to help the Queen. That was always so much fun. I got tours of the castle, I met many people, including my best friends, the knights. I enjoyed helping them clean their armor and care for their horses.

I guess there's nothing for me to worry about here at the castle. It is like a second home to me. I have been to the castle many times now and everything is very familiar to me. I now feel pretty confident that I will do well with my new duties because I have done them before. Cleaning the armor and weapons, caring for the horses, nothing new. I actually have a head start on the other pages. I have had much practice and experience with the duties of the page in the past. I might be able to become a squire before the others! My knight friends may give me advice and help me to become the best page. Then I could become an armiger and go into battle with them. It would be very exciting to see battles fought up close and to see knights try to overcome each other by force or speed. Eventually I will become a knight and try myself in battle and see how I match up against other knights. I'm sure I'll do fine.
