Living at my uncle's castle has been a real adventure! It's so huge, and there are so many people who work here or nearby. I had been invited to go to the castle for the weekend, but I could've never thought that it would be as grand as this. When I first stepped through the portcullis, I was stupendified! The courtyard was filled with people selling goods, and craftsmen of all different sorts hammering. I saw masons on one of the turrets fixing some fallen stones. The excitement was so intense, I felt relieved when I stepped through the inner bailey.
The keep which I stood facing was one of the biggest towers I had ever seen! It was so huge, so important. My uncle led me through the great oak door, and inside Lady Ethel with her damsels greeted me warmly. She guided me through the corridors and hallways until we reached the great hall, (which was almost as grand as the castle itself with all the tapestries) where I had a delicious dinner with the jester entertaining us. After that, I was led up my room and fell asleep on my bed.
The next day I woke up right after dawn. I got up, expecting everyone to be asleep. Instead, people were up and about as they were the last afternoon. I hastily ate breakfast of bread and cheese then went out to explore the castle. My uncle reminded me that it would take very long to visit the whole place. And he was right! I went to only the tailor, potterer, school, and chapel when it was time for dinner. I could not tell you how much fun I had at those places for I could write a book on it. I would surely come back and explore more of it, for I am leaving to-morrow.
