The "Creature"

Long ago not far away,

a creature roamed the land.

Everyone was too afraid,

to lend a helping hand.

The creature was called the pestilence,

at least that was what they said.

The poor dropped dead on the floor,

while the rich were helped in bed.

This creature took the lives of many,

but how did it begin?

It must have been the Italian traders,

they're the ones who brought it in.

Death spread throughout the land,

as loved ones cried away.

All hope was gone for everyone,

they felt as if betrayed.

Does our savior even care about us?

After all nobody cares.

He does not see our mourning cries,

Or answer our desperate prayers.

Some people didn't care at all,

they knew they would die.

So they just enjoyed the rest of their lives,

and prepared themselves to say bye.

There were others that were close to God,

they felt they committed some kind of sin.

They punished themselves with a whip,

so they would be forgiven.

The pestilence was really bad,

and a time of all wrong.

There is nothing really left to say,

so I'll end my unhappy song.
