Headmasters's Message
Ann Kang taught and coached at Iolani School for 25 years.
Upon her passing in the summer of 2003, we named the event in her honor - something
that she would never have dreamed of doing - as a tribute to her good work and to the
legacy of excellence in girls' athletics she created on campus and in the community.
She, I am sure, is pleased that her tournament has stood the test of time and, more
important, continues to offer female athletes a meaningful volleyball experience.
It is fitting that participants play in the spirit that is reflective of the "One Team"
philosophy which Mrs. Kang held dear. Play hard, respect your teammates and opponents,
focus on team goals rather than individual accomplishments and, above all, have fun.
Thank you for helping us celebrate the legacy of Ann Kang, a great teacher and
inspirational coach whose influence and wisdom remain with us to this day.
Enjoy!
