FIRST Robotics Competition
FIRST Robotics Competition is as was once said, the "granddaddy of robotics in Hawaii". With 120lb bots built by high school teams around the world including 25 from Hawaii, it is an incredible experience. Every year, there is a brand new game with different objectives and complications. It is kept secret until kickoff day which is broadcasted live from Manchester, New Hampshire leaving teams close to 6 weeks to build a robot. This competition, as well as most of FIRST is focused on gracious professionalism and encouraging learning, making FRC different from most sports. Many teams are completely transparent, showing their innovations and ideas with the rest of the robotics community, encouraging others to take intuitive leaps and to expand their own thinking.
