FRC Regional 2009
The FIRST Robotics Competition's Hawaii regional took place in the Stan Sherrif Center at the University of Hawaii on the March 26-28 weekend. This three day event was very fast paced with last minute building, practicing, and scouting going on all at the same time. We learned that our robot's design was not the most practical design for scoring, so we changed our strategy to block the teams that could score very well. This change helped us to be picked for the alliance rounds by the 8th seed team. Our alliance, which consisted of our team, Iobotics, a team from Bogalusa, Louisiana, and a team from Manila, Philippines. Our alliance lost in the quarter finals, but we still placed 14th overall against the other teams. We were also awarded the Delphi "Driving Tomorrow's Technology" award for our unique robot design, a reverse tricycle with all three wheels driving.
