Team History

Robotics at 'Iolani began with a FIRST LEGO League team in 2005, run by parents of students interested in robotics. The benefits of this team were so apparent, the school decided to expand the robotics program two years later. A Junior FIRST LEGO League team, a Botball team, and this FIRST Robotics team were started. Along with new teams came new mentors and coaches, including faculty advisors, parents, and our corporate mentors from Datahouse Inc. and BAE Systems. One year later, our team began to also compete in VEX Robotics Competitions. Our team has since grown greatly. In addition to new members, we now have a room of our own, a milling machine and lathe, and have gained official team status in regards to school funding.
